Get the balance right and enjoy a variety of foods

No single food contains all the nutrients we need for good health, so it is important to eat a wide variety of different foods each day.
By choosing a variety of food groups you will get all the nutrients your body needs.
There are five food groups:
1. Fruit & vegetables
2. Bread, other cereals and potatoes
3. Meat, fish and alternatives
4. Milk & dairy foods
5. Foods containing fat, foods & drink containing sugar
- Base your meals on starchy food
- Eat lots of fruit and vegetables
- Eat more fish
- Cut down on saturated fat
- Try to eat less salt
- Drink plenty of water
- Get active and try to be a healthy weight
